Default eBay again

My first......

I bought a Cresent wrench off a seller on eBay, on May18th. The seller has a 99.8% approval rating. Paid for it immediately. The seller generates a "shipping label" and provides a tracking number. This item is in Indiana and should only take a couple of days to get to Michigan. After a week goes by, and not receiving a package from this guy, I sent him a e-mail asking what the status was. He promptly replied and said he thought he had sent it, but assured me if it hadn't, it would go out that day. Another two days go by, and going to the USPS website, it shows that they (USPS) has not received the package. So I contacted him and asked for a refund. He did refund the purchase price BUT......insists that USPS has got the package and they just didn't "scan" it. Well, to this day, I still haven't seen the package, and the USPS still states the same thing. In the e-mail exchanges, he proudly announced that he is an honest man and that I am trying to scam him out of his money. I told him IF....by any chance the package does arrive, I will pay him. I have never encountered this type of tactic before.

Just shoot me.

I have bought a lot on eBay the last 11 years. I collect records and won an auction. I did not have paypal at the time, sent a check. They had 100 percent feedback score. They never shipped them. They told me something catastrophe happened and it had ruined them financially. I never understood how they could not put them in the mail when I had paid for them. I then got PayPal.

I don't like for anything to go by mail. Postal service doesn't have brains enough to track anything. Needed a head gasket set for a tractor last spring. After 10 days it never showed up and they couldn't tell me where it was. The seller shipped another by UPS, got it 2-3 days later. A day after that the original showed up. Maybe its just me or the environment I work in, but this day and time there is no excuse not to be able to track packages in real time.

Do not know about elsewhere but our post person has a hand held scanner.
When they scan when picking it up and scan when dropping it off.

It usually gets in the system but takes forever to show it was delivered.

I haven't bought anything off eBay in over 10 years. Lots of sneaky shady people out there. Sad what the world has turned into. If he did a lot of selling on eBay I could understand forgetting to mail something for a day or two, but a week? Yeah somethings not right.

If you haven't already filed - do so. They should make him pay you back for shipping if he didn't do it already. The general Paypal standard for shipping is 2 weeks. Honestly anytime there is an issue with Paypal or Ebay, even if you think that the seller is going to cooperate it still pays to file.

Every single time the post office picks up, it's scanned. I had parts ship on Friday and I happened to be home when they were picked up. Actually pick up at 10:02 and had email confirmation with that same time stamp by 10:05

I've had terrible tracking from some of my ebay purchases. Quite a few times nothing shows on the tracking other than a label was created and all of a sudden it shows up.

I've ordered tooling and twice it got lost. Both times the seller sent replacement parts out. One of those times the original part showed up. I contacted the seller to let them know I was sending it back but was told to keep the part ( $8 morse taper drill chuck adapter ).

I think either "Mr honest" just plain forgot or somebody at the post office lost it.

You got your money back......so what? I'm sure you'll be honest and inform the seller if you ever did receive the package. No worries! Besides, as bad as USPS tracking system goes, it will eventually show the package delivered if it ever did show up. Seller will know. And so will you.

Roland,
Did you win the auction for "peanuts" maybe?
If yes, he likely decided he was not going to let you have it at that price.
Keep an eye on him for future listings and the same wrench will show up again.

Has happened to me several times.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
