Happy birthday indeed!

I don't recall ever seeing one of those "spirit of 76" Cadets at the dealer my dad worked for. I do remember some hats/caps from IH with that on them, dad even had one. With as many of the little 382's (and the gear drive version) that they sold with ease, I don't know why they weren't selling these. Possibly the owner considered them too much of a "toy" at that time?

You guys were suppose to focus in on the Cub Cadet SO76 which was special built in 1976 to commemorate the Bi-Centennial celebration of our 200 yrs of being America. The young lady was just added "eye candy"....

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
