Electric front pto problem
I use a simplicity broadmoor to cut my grass. I have 2 cub 149 tractors. One is for snowblowing, the other is being redone to look nice. I need some help with the simplicity. I went on a simplicity forum but did not receive much help. If this is not proper, then Moderator please delete this post. When I am mowing the pto will not re-engage after being shut off with the switch. The pto is very hot to the touch. After it cools down in about an hour, it will re-engage with the switch. I use the switch that allows it to turn the blades while in reverse. I can cut all my grass this way, but if I forget and turn off the blades it will not re start them. The belt on the pto to the deck will not move after cutting the grass. It should be able to move by hand. I can release the deck belt tensioner to the pto and the deck spindles will all turn freely. Is my pto toast or could it be a switch problem? All help appreciated.

If it is the switch unplug the pto and see if the blades spin freely.
Looks like a cub one from a 1440,

Lew that style clutch has the "Air Gap/ Clutch Brake" it shouldn't spin when turned off. If I had to guess I'd say that the field coil is going bad.

Assuming that your numbers are correct " 2690947-01" it should have a 22HP engine.
If your clutch is dead the Simplicity part # is 1687746YP (replaces 1717664) CLUTCH (22HP Models Only) You may want to check these guys out for a replacement. http://xtremeope.com/simplicity-1687...FdgGgQodbkkHRw Make sure on the engine, the 22 is the only one that uses this clutch, the other engines have a different part number per parts tree.

Electric PTO problem
Just wanted to post back that after I adsjusted the air gap, the pto worked great. Cut all my grass and it was hot. Shut pto off and then back on and it worked as it should. Thanks for every one's help and thanks Ol' George. You were correct when you said that too wide an air gap could cause my problem. Have a great evening.
