Dont really have much use for a forklift but the price was right, on the last service check the mechanic told the PO it needs a head gasket. It runs and everything works, service record for the last 8 yrs was included. Came out of a liquor warehouse that has been closed.

Nice Lance. I spent my first ten years as forklift mechanic at a Clark dealer. Did plenty of work on that model. Should have a Mitsubishi 4G63 in it I believe. Looks decent. What's the plan?

Nope, not that warehouse. Lol
Alvy, any guess on approx model year? Im not sure what the plan is but Ive just gone through the service records and it seems to have been well maintained, new king pins and tie rods, new drive tires, new seat, regular oil changes. Only bad thing is it reportedly was over heating if worked hard on hot days... rad tested fine but when pressurized there was a small amount of moisture appeared in #4 cyl so the service center recommended a new head gasket... the owner declined the service and chose to rent a replacement forklift.... that was in June of 2016. It was a bit stubborn to start at first but seems to run fine, everything on it works, backup beeper, lights, hour meter(3260 showing), two full tanks of propane.... I think I stole it. Lol

Depends on the serial number but I'm going to say early to mid nineties. Blown head gaskets/cracked heads were a common thing on those engines. Bad thing about most forklifts is the fan blows the air through the radiator which means it sucks all the debris off the floor under the engine like a vacuum and pushes it into the fins. It's got an aluminum head too.
Clark was big back then and there were a lot of those GCS/GCX models sold based on the success of the previous model that had a bullet proof all cast iron Waukesha engine in it. Good luck with it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
