Default 2002 Cub Cadet 7264 tractor

I have a 2002 7264 Cub Cadet that the PTO clutch went out on. The part 618.3189 had been discontinued from Cub Cadet and I have had no luck locating a used one anywhere. Any suggestions? I read where someone welded the parts together and it was just a direct drive pto. Would that work? Any help would be appreciated. Where can you find used parts? My searches have came up empty.

I would call Cub my guess is that they had some vendor make that for them. Next in line would be to try guys that part out tractors, Patton Acres or EBay. You may have to buy a complete used transmission. Maybe what you have can be rebuilt. How about some pics of it.

This is from another site, it has a couple links for service manual downloads.

I'd give Messicks a call, it shows as discontinued but they may be able to help

Default 2002 Cub Cadet 7264 tractor

I have called Cub they are sorry for my inconvenience. No luck with any others you listed having one in stock. Haven't thought about looking for a whole transmission. Might be my next step. I'm trying to get the pics of my pto on here.[IMG]http://onlycubcadets.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=82839&stc=1&d=14895106 89

I was going to recommend that you get on MTF but I see that you already posted on MTF.

It looks like this thing is electrically controlled. Do you know if the problem is electrical or is it mechanical? Just thinking if it has a bad coil maybe it can be rewound. I've never seen a clutch like this. Most Sub Compact's have a hydraulically operated wet clutch. I'd love to see what's inside that makes it work.

He hasn't been on the site since 8/23/17. 4 days after he made that last post.

If I had to guess...... he got it together. But, the way the project went, he may have counted his losses and chucked it. Maybe he took our advice and sold the tractor as soon as he got it together. Who knows.

Try sending him a PM. Maybe he will get an email notification and respond to you.

Default New Member With 7264 PTO Problem

Hey: Thanks for allowing me to post. Just bought Cub 7264 about five months ago. In beautiful condition. Started up last week to pre-flight for season. Has 3 cylinder Daihatsu diesel. Electric PTO switched on dash panel. My PTO doesn't want to engage to drive the 60" deck. The handle on the left doesn't seem to have any detent positions. Just wants to slide up and down the slot. When I first tried, it screeched but did not engage. Didn't do anything else after that as don't want to make things worse. There are two shafts going from the linkage into the transmission. When I move the lever, they do move a little (+- 3/4") in static position. Is there preliminary checks anyone could suggest? Thanks. I may also need a PTO as before here but don't know more than that.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
