Default GT2186 problem, please help
I have a GT2186 Cub Cadet, that has 450 hours on it. It was serviced every 25 hours and trans was every 50 hours. the problem started about one month ago, the motor runs fine and when I am mowing every so often it starts to shake and vibrate, and sounds a little like it is flooding, I turn the mower switch off and the motor runs fine. I turn the switch back on and it will run fine again for a while and then it starts over again. this morning it started to do it again and did it for a quite while and then all at once it ran great. Also the trans started this morning would not go out of forward and the brake would not work and all at once it started to run great again and I finished the mowing. Anybody have any ideas, thanks, JIM

First, Welcome to OCC...

I am going to say, I know nothing about your GT2100. I did research that it has a Kohler CH680-3060 [23HP] engine in your tractor. The Wiring Diagram indicates there are two Electronic Modules on the tractor.

From your description, it sounds like an intermittent electrical issue. And from here, sitting on this side of a monitor, not seeing or hearing anything, it is virtually impossible to say.

I also know nothing but Todd(Oak) and Sam Mac will be able to help.
You are posting in the wrong section. This may be why they have not noticed. A 2100 is a CCC/MTD machine.

It is correct now. You had it in the IH tractor section. 2186 was not built by International Harvester.

Looks like someone moved it, it's in the correct spot now. Sounds like you have 2 seperate issues Jim. The trans issue will most likely be a seperate issue than it running rough. You're going to have to determine if you have a spark or fuel supply issue when it starts running poorly. Does the issue happen at the same amount of run time each time or is it intermittent?

Next time it starts running rough, pull the choke out some and see if it smooths out, if it does that means it's going lean and there's a fuel issue. Or Does it start to smoke specifically black when it starts running rough?

When's the last time you did the other routine maintenance items like fuel filter, spark plugs, air filter etc? Right now without us seeing or hearing what's going on it's mainly a guessing game. Need some more info
