Yet another 127 question.... sorry
Now that I have the rear end out, something just doesn't look right on my trunion/hydro linkage, I've been trying to compare stuff to cubfaq.com, but I don't know if those pics are from a WF/NF... Can someone tell me if these pics look like they have been "modified/fixed" in the past or what. What I'm talking about looks like a welded plate where the springs are. Of course, I probably don't know what it's supposed to look like. I'm also putting a video link to my youtube site....

You are correct..Its been, "sort" of repaired in the past. It may work, but Its not really the proper repair for a worn trunion. Check out this http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=4635 to give you a better idea of what it should look like. It may work ok as-is, but its possible that it could prematurely wear out other parts for the trunion. Interesting repair, I've seen lots of Cubs with trunion repairs, but thats a first for me

ya, when I got this 127 papaglide gave me the papers and a BUNCH of receipts. I don't know if he even knew about all of them. The thing about the receipts are, they are all from an IH dealer, but no descriptions.... back in '89 there is a receipt for $1,300..... so who knows what that was.

Ya, there's a few places that I am seeing "newer" bolts, I think there are 2 on the rag joint also. Just another thing to add to the list.

the one main bad thing about the repair/modification i see is that you will need to grind off the welds and remove that plate holding the 2 springs to replace them, with the original setup when you move the shifter it moves the plate but the springs allow it to have give so that it is a smooth acceleration, not jerky.
after that i see in the hydro slop vid that the lever for shifting is way to sloppy, should be nice and snug but move freely forwards and in reverse. if you want it to all work smoothly you will need to replace or shim the worn parts. hope it helps a little

I would shim #1 and leave the other two alone. 7 and 9 don't really wear all that much from what I've seen, and replacing #1 may not even help, since there is probably also wear on the trunion shaft, as well. It's the trunion slot that needs some help on yours.
