Default My badly beat up 1450

I have owned this tractor for 29 yrs...bought it cheap because it used copious amounts of oil and looked like hell. Rebuilt the engine many years ago and still runs pretty well. This has been a snow plow, tiller and now snow blower unit for all these years. Maybe someday it will be prettied up too. In the meantime, it keeps my driveway clear and the garden tilled. So raise your beer glass and salute the old 1450!

My little Simplicity is getting ready for Spring. Semi annual maintenance.

Cheers! Love the QLs, too!

Here's my trusty 108. We bought it for $1500 in 1978 (a LOT of money for a young couple back then, but we had 1.5 acres to cut), used, from a local dealer. Has seen continuous use ever since, with a restoration/update in 2013 and an engine rebuild in 2015. She's purrin' like a kitten again and is my weekly
grass killer.

It'll be 40 years next spring. Hard to believe!

Very nice looking 108! That is a solid, reliable model that has served you well for four decades and will for many more no doubt.

I bought my first Cub Cadet in 2001, a wore out 127. Traded it the following year for my 1811 which I still own. Seems like a long time until I read stuff like this. Here's to our tractors!

Dad bought this faithful old 1450 in 1976.. It has served our family well for the past 41 years! It was retired from garden duty about 10 years ago but She still pulls grass duty at mom's house every year without a whimper. One engine rebuild, one carburetor, one steering box, several deck rebuilds, several sets of engine mounts, and one paint job. I grew up on this tractor and at one time in the 80's I was cutting half the neighborhood with it!.. I wish I knew how many hours it had on it!

Your 1450 don't look "badly beat" at all. I'd add it to my "badly beat" group any day Beth.

Jay, your 1450 looks terrific! I appreciate the history of your tractor too. Dad first had a 72 then he upgraded to a 1000 which mowed about a gazillion acres as well. With a little love and lotsa money these tractors just keep on keeping on. Beers to your 1450!!!

You are too kind. It is about the worst looking (running) tractor I have. Usually ugly, junky ones get parted...but not this one...I like it too much.

It wears its years well...and it looks like you have a small fleet of them. Always good to have a spare (or 4)

Dad built that bumper years ago... He grew up farming and my grandfather always made sure that all the tractors had some sort of protection for the front sheet metal.. It doesn't really have a special purpose but I have bounced it off several pine trees over the years.. It has saved the front of the tractor several times. We also used to haul this tractor quite a bit and used the bumper to tie the front of the tractor down on the trailer.. it's quite stout!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
