Default Trying to I.D. translatable MFG.

I have a Cub that has no markings and the I.D. decal is gone. I believe it to be a 3225 that someone has replaced the Kohler Command 22 HP with a 23 HP.

The trans-axle model # 618 -3209 is one I want to find out who the MFG. is. I contacted Hydro Gear and they say its not theirs.

Does anyone know who the MFG. is ?

Thanks for the help.

The information you supplied offers no clues. How about posting a picture.

There should be a tag under the hood on the right side and another on the right side of the frame.

Hydro-Gear made all of the 3000 series hydro units. It will have a BDU-21L pump.

Here is a link to the manual if you need it.

Default Cub Diff

The differential has a stamped MTD 3 blades of grass logo on it and the unit is some type of metal because the magnet sticks.

IF Hydro Gear builds the pumps, then who builds the diff ? Hydro Gear told me the 618 - 3209 model number was NOT theirs.

I have absolutely no I.D. decals anywhere on this unit other than the one on the hump on the floor pan which is a decal in a circle and says "shaft drive"

That is why I thought if I could I.D. the trans-axle with its model and serial number I would be able to figure out this Cubs model. The guy I talked to he Cub corp was not real helpful. In fact he told me ALL Cubs had the I.D. tags under the seat, but the 2006 2554, and 3184 both have them behind the R.H. front wheel under the starter on the frame.

Everything pointed to this being a 3235, but those had a deck height knob on the floor pan, mine only has a small window.

I appreciate your help, Thanks.

The hydro unit is mated to the axle/diff assembly.
So the axle/diff could be a Peerless, etc.

You sure that number 918-3209 is not 918-3203 ?
The latter being the part number for a diff cover on a 3184, 3186, 3205, 3206, 3208, 3225 and 3226.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
