Just occurred to me that today is Sept 11. To those who lost someone, and to those who died, may they rest in peace. To those who have served this great country, and to those who do, thank you for all you do and have done. This day in history marks a real turning point in how Americans live. The world changed on Sept 11, 2001. I will never forget this date. What I was doing, where I was.... how it felt.
I was working for Case IH as a mechanic in Casey, Il. It was any other normal day at work until we got word that something was going on in New York. The world stopped. We spent the rest of the day huddled around radio's and a TV that we found and got hooked up to pick up the news. We all just watched. About 15 of us huddled around the TV. Watching. Listening. Just in shock. We didn't know what was going to happen next. As the day went on, and into night.... then the next day and even the next several. I just kept wondering if there was more coming. If we were safe. People in other places have to deal with fighting/war on a regular basis.... but not here, in America. Thank God we live where we don't have to worry about it.... or at least we don't think we do. So far, our powers at be have kept us all safe. Let's not forget the day that we weren't, and what it felt like so that it may never happen again. Where were you? God Bless the USA. ![]() |

Very well said, Jonathan. I too was at work, wondering the same things you expressed.

Was at work in a customers parking lot working on their lifts, listening to the radio, Howard Stern who was on regular radio at the time. Had been in Florida about 4 years already. Being from NY however this hit close to home. Actually panicked at first because my parents were in the city that week and I didn’t know which day and actually in WTC1 in one of the restaurants in the top. Thank God it was a couple days before. Was still very saddened and shocked to hear and see about such a massive loss of life. All flags down here in Florida flying half mast and I’d like to think that most have not Forgotten.

I didn't forget either and recall the 19 pukes that were responsible.

Since I was working second shift I was home in the morning. I turned on the news about 9:30 while drinking my coffee and saw the footage of the first plane hit and spent the rest of the morning watching the TV. When I went into work at 3 in the afternoon the entire shop was watching the news reports on the TV in the break room we spent most of the night shift just wondering what was next. My thoughts and prayers are with those who lost so much on that day.

I was close. Thankfully not too close. Was on my way into the city. In traffic in mid-town tunnel when the first plane hit. I was heading in to see a client downtown. Made the turn onto the FDR and could see the smoke. Must have been around 25th or 23rd streets I heard what happened on the radio. A couple blocks later NYPD had streets blocked heading south. Almost at the exact same time I was about to head back up town the radio announcer reported the second plane hitting. People pulled over and got out of their cars and looked downtown where you could already see the smoke. It was the most shocking and unsettling feeling I have ever felt in my life. My appointment was for 9:00 AM and I called to tell my client I was running late "traffic" Within minutes it was impossible to use a cell phone. Driving back on the LIE "Long Island Expressway" lots of people pulled over and stood beside their cars in shock. Watching emergency vehicles race by heading west into the city.
I lost 2 close personal friends that day and 4 more over the years from related issues from being at the site. I will never forget that day or the days my friends passed away from their injuries. I will never forget all of the heros that rushed to help others and lost their lives I will never forget the servicemen and women who fought back for us and continue to protect us from this evil happening again.

My wife spent 3 weeks at ground zero as a nurse with the Red Cross Disaster Relief caring for the rescue crews’ many injuries an fatigue. She wanted to stay longer but they wouldn’t let her. She said it was the hardest and most rewarding thing she ever did. She still has her hard hat.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
