Default 1400,1600
How come IH didn't make a bigger geared tractor in the QL series? Such as a 1400 (Gear 14hp) or a 1600 (gear 16hp). I've seen people swap a 14 or 16 hp on a 1200 tractor before. Just wondering!

Just a theory of mine...



I liken it to the same thing on the automobile. When I was younger (many years ago) you could buy a car with an Manual Transmission (3 on the column or 4 on the floor). Now days, it is almost impossible to see these on new vehicles.

Thus, I suspect the IH Engineers seen the increased popularity of the Hydro and went in that direction.

The last 3 "kids" I have hired cannot even drive a car/truck with a standard trans.........



Was there not someone here that did up a 1600 a bit ago??

Mine is technically a 1200,but we swapped the seized motor for one that was on a parts 1450 and now it's a 1400. I wanted to get decals made for the dash piece,but haven't looked too far into it. I use mine to plow snow,mow grass and everything else. I don't know why either but Rolands theory seems logical enough. I'd love to make it a 1600 though someday...

Get in touch with Maple hunter decals...I believe he did the 1600 decals for the guy that built that one.. He's listed in the vendor section
