Guys, the battery doesn't have enough power to start the 1512 in the cold. I need a higher CCA one. What do you guys use in your diesels? I really appreciate it!

I recommend that if you absolutely need to run it in cold weather that you put an electric heater under the engine about 8 hours before you try to start it and a battery maintainer on the battery. If you are starting it just to ride it around you are doing more damage to it than it is worth.

I agree with Sam, but if you do need a new battery, there is a 400 cca version of small utility battery. That what I have in mine.

Is the weather generally a problem where you are? I know you guys had some snow there recently but is that the norm? We run small kubota diesels in the smaller belt loaders here in NY all winter long without any major issues starting.

Just what exactly is the correct group # battery for the 882/1512 Cub??
More CCA needed for sure , because when you fire the preheat for a bit, the smaller GT/Lawn batteries, in cold conditions, don't have enough oomph left to spin fast/long enough to get the fire in all 3 lit. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
