Default 1989 Cub Cadet 1872, 50" deck, 45" snow blower

Hello,

I have a Cub Cadet 1872 that was my Grandfather's, and it has a 50" mowing deck, and a 45" snow blower. The tractor runs great, as do the implements. There are 683 7/10ths hours on it.

I would like to sell the tractor, and would appreciate your feedback on what the value is.

Thank you, in advance, for your help.

If the rear isn't loose of busted up, I'm thinking no less than $1500 for the package. I'd probably start at $1800. It looks like it is in nice shape. Why don't you keep it?

Thank you for both your replies.

I was thinking/hoping it was more along the lines of the "no less than $1500" as well, and had really thought I'd start around $2000. The whole tractor appears to be in good shape, as do the deck and the snow blower.

I have a compact Kubota with a finish mower, and a plow, and I'd like to keep the barn open, and the number of vehicles I'm maintaining to a minimum. If the Cadet did something for me (other than nostalgia) that wasn't a duplicate of the Kubota, I'd keep it.

I'm in Big Flats, Risinvillain. You're just up the road.

Again, thank you for taking the time to comment.

It might do nothing for you, but it WAS your GRANDFATHERS.
I don't know your age or relationship with him,
but to me that would make it priceless.
Maybe I'm just an old sentimental man, but you might kick yourself in the ass in years to come.

True words, Ol' George. And yet, if you knew him, you'd know that HE would kick my butt on the regular for keeping a cluttered garage, and equipment I don't need! : )

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
