I got a 1962 Cub Cadet Original, and I am wanting to put ag tires on it, and mow the yard. In the winter months, I want to snow plow with it. Could and how would I convert a newer snow plow to work on it, without too much of a hassle?

Your question depends solely on your skill set, which we have no idea of. I could do it with little effort in a day probably with the right plow. But then again I have a shop full of fabrication machinery and 35 years experience.

The Original plows were a stand alone fit due to the location of the lift rod on the rock shaft near the center of the unit.
They also utilized 2 different plow set ups. One of witch is a non trip blade. They are out there but hard to find and pricey when/if you do. If you want to go with a thrower instead, look for a BB38 DanCo/IH (pictured) Look in the manual section on this site, there may be links to manuals that cover these as well as the blades/plows Look here https://www.onlycubcadets.net/pdf/CPE-2A%20Blades.pdf The Original blade attachments start on page 6 Good luck! |

Also, myself and others found that turf tires with chains/weight work better for snow than ag's . Ag's work well for ground engaging work like a mold board plow. There are other tire treads some find work well but to each his own and I don't mean to infringe on others preferences, just advise if you didn't know.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
