Default Is my engine Series II ?

I just read this in another post....

"Cub Cadet did not start putting KT-17 Series II until serial number 726,125>."

My 782 tractor serial number is 2050601U731511

The engine has a tag but difficult to read:

Serial #1402336
Engine Spec 24302

What do I have?

Sounds like you just got lucky..... According to Tractor Data the 2 series KT-17 began at engine spec # 24,300. You are three away from the crap. To be sure, I would see what others here have to say!

Yes...That's what I thought, but I wanted to be sure. It sure does run nice for a 40 year old motor!

Unless you have had it since new, there is always the possibility the engine has been swapped out multiple times.
Shoot us a pix of the oil filter area of the engine if it has one, specifically the area where the oil pressure sender is.

if it has a sender, or a pipe plug it is not a series I
Cooling shrouds with numbers ,oil filler plugs/caps, mean nothing as all interchange, so anything could of been changed, but the block will tell what it is.
It could even be MAGNUM if it has no ignition coil.

It does have an ignition coil......But I do not see an oil filter....but not sure where to look.

Also, can someone tell me where the voltage regulator is located?

Here is a quick video of the engine to show how I had to jump out the coil to get it running.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
