Default Latest haul: Cub 125 and 1450

Welp,

Things have gotten completely out of control

I've had a lot of time at the house during this Coronavirus business and have started expanding my Cub collection. Here's the latest:

I purchased these from a very sweet lady whose husband has unfortunately become ill.

My plan is to keep the 1450 for myself, and gift the 125 to friends of ours who recently purchased a home. It should be perfect for their property. The total haul is: 3 snowblowers, 1 42" WF plow, a Curtis cab, 3-point, spring assist, head/taillights on both, and 42/44" decks. The tractors were last run a year ago.

I thought the front tires were interesting. They are Carlisle's but look like ATV tires. Should work well, but look a bit strange. Paid $500 for the lot, which I thought was a pretty good score given the excellent condition of the tractors.

Pic of plow and cab along with some other unrelated cub stuff:

She also gave me some NOS IH Hytran cans, an air filter, and two hydro filters.

Hey Matt do they look like these? These came on a 1650 I bought and they worked really well this winter on plowing duty! I thought they looked strange too when I saw'm.

What is the model/serial number of your 1450? I'm trying to pin down when the model numbers changed from 0065 to 0660. Mine is 0066 which I haven't seen anywhere in any documentation. Just curious if this was an interim number or something else. If anyone else with a 1450 could chime in with their numbers, it would help. Very curious if someone else has a 0066 unit. Just trying to gather info that might be useful for some in the future when researching parts.

Hey all!

Darkminion, The window isn't broken, just looks that way in the picture. It's in nice shape, just wish it had side and rear panels. I'm actually in the process of trading the cab for a Cub 128. I don't think I use it, and would rather fix up another tractor.

CADplans, that's a cool machine. I figured the tires were probably for a snow blower, but I think this a very good application for them too. The have loads of grip.

tobo127, I'll try and remember to look at the serial number when I get home.

Yesterday I got both tractors started. The PO owner had kindly drained all the gas out of them. So, besides a bad float needle, the 1450 was good to go. I actually immediately mowed my yard with it! Haha

The 125 also started right up with fresh gas and a battery. I did run into an issue later in the day where it wouldn't crank. The amp meter moves when I turn the key, but I don't hear the solenoid clicking and the s/g didn't budge. I'm wondering if the solenoid gave up the ghost or if I unhooked a wire by accident when I removed the cab brackets. Either way, should be a quick fix. My friends are really excited to get this tractor for their new home. I'm going to swap the tires/wheels for some classic ones, and go over the whole tractor with new fluids, filters, grease, etc.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
