Replacement Harness for 2006 LT1050 Does Not Work
I have a 2006 LT1050 with about 600 hours on it. I've recently replaced many, many parts on this mower. I should have bought a newer model, but oh well, sunk costs. I replaced the original wiring harness with what was recommended on the website. Unfortunately, this harness does not work because there is no direct connection between the solenoid and battery or solenoid/starter. I took it to an authorized Cub Cadet service shop and it's been 6 weeks since they've had it. They indicate that the harness is not the right one for this model but the previous harness is no longer in production, having been replaced by the one recommended for purchase.
HELP!!!! It seems I was led astray and now I have spent even more money to "jerryrig" a brand new harness to this older lawn tractor. Any recommendations? The service guys are at a loss to also figure out how to make this harness fit this model even though both Cub Cadet and other sellers of this harness model indicate that it's the replacement for one that has been discontinued. It seems I may need to go to a Cub Cadet grave yard to find the same harness with which the mower was sold. Again, please help. Oman from Wisconsin |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
