Default 18HP twin cylinder into a narrow frame?

Im sure this has been tried if not done, but I am starting to install a loader onto my 123 and my buddy has an 1810 he started it for me and wow how smooth that twin is...

how hard would it be to fit one of those engines into a 123?

With a Cutting Torch, metal, a Welder, fabrication, and some tools, I see no problem.

smoother and much more HP... I also like the Onan P series engines too...


so... has this been done?

Common sense says why reinvent the wheel?
Time one hacks the sides of the frame down to clear the cylinders and weakens/ ruins it then scabs on reinforcing plates and what all else needs to be done if one expects to have a hood/side panels,
it is so much easier to just start with a spread frame, designed to bolt in an opposed twin.
And hanging a loader on a Garden tractor is borderline abuse, but many people do it, but are careful understanding a GT was not designed for loader or a back hoe so caution is exercised during usage.
Hell, you can set a small block Chebbie in front, and it would be a conversation piece, but the usability is diminished hugely.
We all dream, and that is how things get built but some thought/experience must go into the project.
Just my .02 cents, no offence meant to anyone.

why would I have to cut into the frame, cant the opposed horizontal twin sit on top of the frame rails? then make an adapter to the hydro drive shaft...

??

LOL you guys... this is not rocket science! Bolt down an M18 engine (which is not tall) to a plate on top of the frame (or angle irons), fab a drive shaft, make the necessary hookups, turn the key...

who wants to hold my beer...

Make sure the pto ends up where you want it.

That was the main snag when I repowered my 1711
