Smile IH Cub Cadet 782; IA U1111 Tiller belt

I recently acquired an IH (red) Cub Cadet 782 in excellent shape! Since then, I also located and acquired a model IA U1111 tiller.

I desperately need to find out the belt size to fit this configuration.

If anyone has suggested websites or other information, it is MUCH appreciated!!!

I am also looking for someone that might be able to help me find 'extensions' for the tiller. It currently is 30" wide, but I would like to expande it a little on either side. At most, I would want it to be 42" wide.

All the help and guidance that I have found from this site is extraordinary.

Thank you in advance for your expert guidance!

If questions, Email: fund.joe@gmail.com; or call me; 785.213.5589.

Please make a post in the wanted section of the site for the extenstions.

The correct belt # is listed in the tech section of the site. Here's the link!

The first thing you will have to do is make sure you have the correct bottom pulley on the angle gear drive for the tiller. Your 782 uses a 5/8" belt. The 1 and 1a tillers originally came with a pulley for a 1/2" belt for the early model tractors. There is a belt chart in the implement technical section on page 2 towards the bottom of the page under Tiller Belts. They give the belt number to order since I do believe it is NLA from cub.

Our sponsors at the top of the page should have all the parts you are wanting or can probably locate them. Patton Acres in particular should have. Also I would call or email them as they do not list 'everything' they have on their webpages.

You will need to use the belt listings for the 2b tiller. Also you will need to know your serial number and use the belt per your serial number.

Just to make sure. Do you do have the cast iron rear end in your 782?

There is a difference of about 8 inches in belts depending on your serial number. What is your serial number?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
