wide frame with a factory rear PTO ?
I've seen a few online that have a rear PTO kit, and there's a NOS kit on ebay right now. Also. I have been offered some sort of wide frame with a PTO, for free. I just have to go get it when I get time. I don't know what it is, model or any thing. I'm just wondering what this could be used for? how rare / desirable are they ?

I think that this style rear PTO was made mostly for the gear drives, as you can't engage it while the engine is running on a hydrostat. They do make a driveline disconnect for hydros, just a clutch plate on the drive shaft that disconnects the hydro so you can engage the PTO.
There is another style of rear PTO that came on the supers that had an electric clutch with some belts. This one is a live pto. http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=c...&dn=0031900018 This is a parts diagram - it kinda explains how it works. I know that there was a Cat 0 tiller designed to work with the supers, but I'm not sure of any other attachements that would utilize either rear PTO option. Love the rear PTOs though.

I see this thread was moved from the tractor section to the implements and attachments section... seeing as how the PTO is installed internally on the rear end, I would reason it was neither an attachment, nor a implement, since it is not removed... Hence the reason for posting it under the tractor section... but hey.. to each his own.

The only value to these Gear Drive Rear PTO's, is the "cool factor". Functionally. they are worthless. They rotate the wrong direction for most applications. IH never made an implement that worked for those PTO's.

i also saw some sort of pto reverser box or some thing? were there ever any PTO driven attachments made for these ?

combined with a 3pt hitch, an industrious guy with the time and materials could build some pretty neat stuff I would imagine... Im picturing a 3 foot miniature bush hog... or a broadcast spreader....

YES, there was an aftermarket "Reverser" that could be installed to make it work right.

A lot of guys will also put the 90 degree gearbox and belt pulley off a farmall cub on them too.
