I have a cub cadet 2086 that has started spurting antifreeze out from the top left of the water pump where it bolts to the motor Now the temperature light is coming on even though the radiator has been refilled. Is the water pump bad or something else?

I had to replace the pump on my 3205 with the same engine and also the thermostat too. It's not too bad of a job. Look at your cam gear while you have it off for any problems and if it is plastic or steel. I got all my parts from TEW. Good luck and lets see some pictures.
http://tewarehouse.com/490442066 Don't forget about all the gaskets too. http://tewarehouse.com/110602451 http://tewarehouse.com/110602450 Do a "parts look up" because these were from a 3000 series machine and yours is a SGT but they should be the same.

I have a 166 page service manual in PDF format. I can try and email it or if the mods want they can put it in the manual section. PM me your email and I will try and send it to you. It is 11.1 MB.
Are you going to change out the plastic cam gear? You can buy the kits on evilbay. I didn't do mine yet but I would like to see some pics of one being done. Good luck!

Did the Cub Cadet that used the Kawasaki fd620d engine have the nylon gear or the steel gear on the cam? My brother-in-law has a 3205 that is having some problems running. It popped a push rod out of place, but did not bend it. Still not running right after put back in place. Wonder it might be the same problem in the John Deere's with the fd620d and the plastic cam gear failing.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
