Default Deck / Subframe Leveling

I have a question about the subframe... I've noted issues with my 42" deck on my 127 (quick attach).. mowing funny... leaving a larger raised patch in the center... I'm going to level the blades.. but... tonight I was just thinking and started measuring the distance from the bottom of the deck at the guide wheels to the floor.. I've got 3" on one side and over 5" on the other side... this is with the deck fully raised....

Any ideas?

I just dropped the deck and subframe a couple of days ago and don't really look forward to dropping again... I didn't note any warpage.. but I also left it under the tractor...

I never noted an issue, but I haven't been mowing lately with the deck fully lowered... I guess it's "floating"... with it fully lowered it tends to scalp..

thanks

I know when I mow alot with one of my old decks and grass builds up undernieth it to bad it will leave a raised patch of grass where the most buildup is. As for leveling, I take and lower it to the first notch and measure the farthest corner of the 2 outer blades and adjust untill they are bothe the same. And I measure the center blade front to back and leave it about a 1/4" high in the back. This way works for me real well on the older decks. Make sure that you do this on something that is Perfectly level or as close to perfect you can get. Its hard to warp a deck unless you run over it with something. Ive hit rocks and tree limbs with mine and never had an issue with warpage.

My deck seems level, I think it's the subframe.

I checked the subframe and it's level.. the deck is within 1/2 inch.. I'm wondering if it's possible that it's due to the guide wheels in the back...

My yard is on an angle.. and it appears that the right-hand blade mows lower... I visually inspected the blades and they don't appear to be off.. but I can find spots where the grass is an inch higher... I'm thinking out-loud.. but..

If the guide wheels are making contact.. and you are on an angle and one makes contact (the uphill wheel in this case).. shouldn't that push the deck down on the oposite side? What if the guide wheels are making no contact?

Also, I see where I can lower or raise the guide wheels in the back.. but the center (front) guide.. doesn't appear to be adjustable..

lastly I note that when removing the deck the quick attach at one side requires the deck to be lowered further to be removed than the other side.. I'm nervous that this might mean the deck is warped..??? But.. when the deck is sitting on the ground one side is within 1/2 inch of the other side..

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
