We probably all have seen ads, either on Craig's List or Ebay, that leaves us scratching our heads. Bad spelling, run-on sentences, poor grammar, not enough info, etc., - they seem to find their way into ads, especially on Craig's List. So......with that in mind, I thought it would be fun to have a thread of any ad that anyone here have ran across, that leaves you pondering, scratching your head, laughing or just plain, "What the....?"

Do you ever see the ones where the ad says "tractor" or something similar and the ad says "runs good"? No model, information, picture, phone number, anything. I also like the spellings of Kohler (I've seen Koler, Kolor, and Coler that I remember). Not criticizing because I know not everyone lives and breaths Cubs like some of us, but funny you'd bring this topic up... cuz it couldn't be more true.

I saw one on CL earlier this year that had a title something like "127 Club Cadget". Having about 3 more times in the information body with the same "Club Cadget" spelling. I know it could be a family member that never used it, etc, but upon reading an add like that I have to wonder if they even went outside the house to make sure it's still in their yard.
The other is pictures that show 5 ft. tall weeds and a Cub Cadet somewhere in them. |

I guess the worst offenders to the vague, almost non-existent information type ads, is some of the ones you see for John Deere mowers. It say something like "John Deere Mower for sale" and that will be the extent of the ad. No model number, no engine size, no deck size, no condition given. It's like JD only made one model or just the name is enough that no other info is needed. I also see those type ads for Cub Cadets, but just not as often.

I wont answer to those adds I did one time and it turned out to be a spammer .
I received many articles after that too when I posted my motorcycle on CL. Same lousy spelling and for things that didnt pertain to what I was selling -- wanted to trade "planner nifes" for it I responded to an add for Plainer Knives ,prior to that .

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
