Default First cub, 2182

As I believe a "good deal" is determined by if you want it and the price is something you are willing to pay, I got a Great deal! So far I have done spark plugs, oil change, all fuel lines, fuel filter, air filter, hydraulic filter, axle tube seals, fuel tank shut off seals, cleaned out fuel shut offs. I have a new hydraulic relief valve on the way, one is leaking bad, then I'll send the leaking one out for a rebuild. I plan to remove the deck and wire wheel it all down for a new coat of paint to protect it. I don't mind the rust, just don't want it to continue. I'm looking forward to seeing how this handles grass.

Thanks. It did clean up great. I bought it having no idea what I was getting into but as my wife says, I can fix anything. I tore into it the night it got delivered and had a list of parts on order through my dealer. The only disappointment was the stripped drive shaft. Now waiting on the relief valve so I can mow with it. I don't need the mower with that husqvarna mzt52 we have but I'll use it in the back yard. Im hoping I can use it to move the boat. Will it tow 3500lbs?

The 2182 cleaned up and looks great. You snagged what is considered by many(me included)the best Cub Cadet tractor ever!
It's a tough well built tractor that should give you many hours of service. If you could find a rear 3 point, that adds a lot of options for attachments. A rear PTO is also an option but pricey and attachments are rare and expensive.
Take care of your 2182, it will serve you well!

I bought a 1864, it's just grown from there. The Cubs have replaced old Chevys as my hobby/passion. The only car I have left is a '67 Chevelle wagon.
Seems like a good trade off. I can put five Cubs where one car sat and there are no titles or license to fool with!

I have studied those threads and they were very helpful in getting me started. Thank you. My new relief valve just got here, time to play.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
