Last weekend I bought a bunch of Cub Cadet mower decks (9), two front blades, some mule drives and deck hangers, a starter generator, two sets of plastic covered cement wheel weights, a Cub Cadet 123, a Cub Cadet 124, a Cub Cadet 125, and an unidentified Cub Cadet Corperation Cub, all for $200.00
I brought all the goodies home that day and today I went back and picked up the tractors. I got home and had them all unloaded by 4:00 pm, and by twenty after, I had the 125 running and cutting grass, it came with yet another mower deck... What a deal. None of them are any kind of pretty, the 125 has a fender that has a big tear in it, but it has the nicest reflectors on it that I have ever seen. The 123 has an ugly hole cut in the tunnel right above the hydro relief valves and is missing the lever and spring to release the valves with, it needs to have the S/G bolted on and a clean gas tank installed (the existing one is pretty scaley on the inside) it is also missing the coil, plug wire, drag link and center link. The 124 also needs several parts, S/G, carb, voltage regulator and it didn't come with a PTO (bummer) the shifter is also broken or has come apart, you can pull it up and take it clear out of the hole... This 123 and 124 may or may not start and run (who knows). If I get a chance I'll mess with them this weekend and see if they can become running tractors or just parts that need to be seperated and stocked. Either way I'm very pleased with my purchase because twenty some Cub Cadets really isn't enough, a fella always needs three more... The guy I bought them from has a large barn and several sheds full of little green tractors. Man, what a collection! Some of them are really nice and some are just workers. He has most of the cool toys for them too. He is however still looking for a sickel mower, after that he says he thinks he'll be finished collecting. In the next breath he said "If you run across any green ones, let me know and I'll send all the yellow ones I find your way." Ya know, I don't think he's really finished collecting at all. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
