I'm having a heck of a time getting a replacement gas cap with guage for a restoration. Need the x82 series cap just like the original. I bought one on Ebay from a seller named rock_digger that showed a pic of one just like the original ones and 10-5/8" long just like the original instead of the newer 9" ones that don't reach the bottom. Got the cap and it was NOTHING like described. Didn't look like a Cub Cadet one like the picture and nowhere close to 10-5/8". I sent it back. Round 2 I bought form Randysenginewarehouse. They sell 9" ones identical to Cub Cadet caps except length. I got one there before and really liked them. Just got it Saturday and it too isn't the same design as the one in the pic. Not even close. They said its just a manufacturer change on the caps. If that's true (aside from the obvious "why are they selling items nothing like they picture and describe" knowing they are different),
does anyone on here know where I can get the original style caps that say "GAS" on them and have the guage? Are they really going out of stock for a different design? I'd like one correct for my restoration even if its a few bucks more. Anyone bought one anywhere lately that's correct. Even if its the 9" one I can live with that as long as it looks right. Mine splashes gas out at me and on my paint and I'm already 2 weeks hassled to get the right one so I'm coming to you guys for advice on where to buy. I obviously can't keep paying for return shipping until someone actually sends me the item I buy.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
