saved a 1541 today
Hi all I was at the scrapyard today after cleaning up my yard and a guy was bringing in a 1541 with three point hitch in to scrap it. I went over to talk to him because I had never seen one and am a tractor fan (currently restoring a ih Bn) and found out it ran just had caught fire. It had burnt up the hood, left side and headlights. I ended up trading him a equal amount of scrap for it. Got it home and it will start if you jump the solenoid but not the key. Drove it around and man does it have power. Hydraulics all work too! Now for the bad, brake pedal does not return, won't start with key and no belt for the 46 inch deck oh yeah hood and sides are melted along with some wiring. I don't think it was that bad of a deal since it was less then a hundred bucks. Pics will come tomorrow. Are service manuals available for this? I can't find that much about this tractor were they any good?
