1711 Drive Line Repair
Well mowing season is over with, so while it is not butt freezing cold out, I figured I would get a head start on repairs for my 1711. I already new the drive line was in need of replacing, but had no real idea how bad it was till today.
I started out getting the bolts removed from the flex discs and move the motor forward to get the drive shaft out.   Then I pulled the flywheel to drive shaft Flange. Yeah, there was supposed to be a ball bushing in there. Absolutely no sign of it anywhere. This was all that was there.   It needs this in it to be good, but as you can see it's toast. I'll be placing a wanted add for this.  Then I removed the rear yoke and well of course it wasn't much better  The bushing popped right out without a problem, of course. But the collar was not budging.  I cut a small piece of flat stock I had lying around and borrowed the neighbors $100 Harbor Freight Mig and tacked the stock into the bevel of the collar. A couple wacks with the hammer and a drift and it popped right out. Pressed in the new bushing and now at least the rear yoke is ready to go back in.
