Default 125 Hydro Lift Day

I finally got around to installing the hydro lift and rockshaft on my 125. I was able to use oven cleaner on the pump and brackets to strip the puke-yellow that a PO had brush painted on it at some point. The old yellow underneath is close enough to the tractor's old paint for me. I like 'em original and with their battle scars or beauty marks, whichever you prefer.

The install went smooth, no broken bolts or frame issues. I pulled the motor and cleaned the 45 years of crud out of the frame rails and checked over everything that was exposed. A PO had run the wiring harness through the S/G mount, so I had to disconnect and fish the VR and headlight leads back through the slot. The wiring harness may not be original, but I had enough flex to make it work with the hydro pump. I did add a grass screen off a parts K241 while I was in there. Did a test-fit and lined everything up and then put the screws and bolts to it. It's a project that had been on the to-do list for a long time! Now I'll have to find time to edit my signature!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
