An R Bedell Type Question??

OK, I am lost. I tried to start an 18HP Kohler Magnum. It would not start, no spark at the plugs.

There are 2 wires that come out of the engine to a double connector.

When I disconnect the double connector plug, the engine will start.

When I reconnect the plug the engine will shut off.

When I use an ohm meter, the tractor side of the connector does not show continuity to ground.

What am I missing??

What is stopping the engine if the wire does not show continuity to ground?

I even reversed the ohm meter leads in case there was a diode in the circuit.

Is the magnum supposed to shut off by grounding that terminal?

I even disconnected the battery, the engine continues to run fine.

Connect the connector, it stops. BUT, no continuity to ground.

HELP!
