Hello All,
Well I had planned to rebuild the mower deck on my Cub Cadet 682 this winter but my 44" deck had other plans. The center spindle lower pulley exploded and broke off! I have a couple of questions listed below on the rebuild. 1. I have a 44" deck. I know that the "correct" deck is a 44C but looking at the tag it does not say "44C" anywhere. I think it is a latter model deck but it is very similar to the 44C. I attached a pic of the serial tag and pic of the deck. Does my deck have any differences in spindles compared to the 44C? 2. I found the part # 959-3367 for the 44C center spindle assembly. Looking at several sites it looks like it around $200-$250! I found a pic of it and it looks like it might not fit because of the "ribs" on the main mounting assembly. It looks like the deck would have to be cut to clear these ribs. Or do I have a different deck that have a different spindle assembly? 3. Does anybody in the Northeast Ohio (Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Youngstown) have a solid & ready to go 44" or 50" deck for sale? It might be cheaper than rebuilding!!!! ![]() Thanks in advance for your help!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
