OK I have a few updates on this:
I apologize for going back and forth on what snowthrower I actually have. The plate says CC36 and when I google imaged it, it pulled up stuff that looked slightly different so I assumed the gearbox/adjusting was from a QA36. According to this ebay image, it does indeed look like what I have:   I've been using the QA36 manual as a reference and its adjustment doesn't apply. The thread on the nut is definitely normal right hand thread.  My problem was a mix of what I imagine was transporting the unit with a loose adjuster that was probably jamming itself into that nut destroying the threads, along with me jamming a new bolt in said destroyed threads with a big wrench thus destroying bolts, and exactly what Muzzy said. The plate bolts were locked tight not allowing for any adjustment(and making it impossible to install on my 105 as a whole assembly, no wonder it was so damn difficult!) Thanks for all your input guys!
