HELP!! Another power steering thread!
I was watching the other thread closely because I too have a leak in my power steering pump on my 1872. I knew that it was nothing that I wanted to tackle, so I have taken it to a Cub dealer. He has had it 3 weeks so far! They called me yesterday evening and told me that it was finished. I went this morning to get it...but I left it there.
The mechanic that worked on it was the only person there. He told me that the steering was pretty tight and he was not happy with it. Well...what an understatement! When I took it in for repair, you could steer with one finger. After he rebuilt the pump, you need two hands to turn the wheel and the tractor lurches slightly when driving it and you turn the wheel. I told him that he HAS TO HAVE it put together wrong! He stated that he has had it apart twice already. He said he called the Cub Cadet service about it, and they said it could be the steering column. I said, No way! It worked fine until you took the pump apart. Well, long story short...I am not happy, they still have it, and I have no confidence that it will get fixed correctly. What else could it be guys?????
