Update
Ok guys, finally got some higher priority projects out of the way, giving me some wrench time on this newer CC. I have to say, I think I've cussed this newer machine more than I have any of the other Cubs I have. The design and ease of access for removing the drive shaft and engine are just...they make me want to pull out what little hair I have left!  All kidding aside, I did make some good progress. Got the engine pulled, as seen below.  I then removed the flywheel (not the right tool for the job but seeing as how I don't have much invested in this machine, it's what I had so it's what I used).  I then found the mess pictured below. I'm leaning towards the crank seal, but what do you guys think? Seeing as how "cheap" ($13.71 for the stinking seal) parts are for this engine, I want to make sure I get the right part replaced on this turd. Opinions, thoughts, and suggestions are welcome!
