Possible diesel loader project: am I crazy?
I'll try to keep this brief. I've had a 1512 CC with a loader offered to me for $1100. It runs and works right now but could use a little TLC. I know off the bat that it needs:
Glow Plugs Replace the fuel line All fuel filters Hydro fluid change/new filter Coolant change Possibly other routine Cub/Diesel maintenance Now my conundrum comes in the form of what to do with this deal. I flat out don't have $1100 to sink into this without recouping most of it (not to mention the cost of what I'd have to do to get the thing in satisfactory running/operating condition). I do have a local Cub friend who is big into the 82 series Cubs and wants a diesel. I want the loader. I'm sure you can all see where I'm going with this. Am I crazy for wanting to get this, remove the loader, and sell the tractor to recoup most of my investment? Part of the deal with my friend getting the 1512 is he'd be helping me swap the loader between machines and fab anything we'd need (he has a better shop than I with all the necessary tools). I'm not 100% sure how the loader hydraulics are powered so that's a mystery at the moment. Guess I'm just looking for some other guys  on this one. I hate to send the diesel down the road but for this to work, that's what I'd have to do. And then getting the loader to work on the 2284, that's another hurdle.Below are the pics I have on the machine at this time. Click on them to see them full size.
