108 axle
I got a 108 with a 42 inch deck that I just put the engine in from being rebuilt.
Shortly into cutting the lawn it started thowing the mule drive belt. So I ordered a new one from my dealer. Once installed I ran it with the pto clutch engaged, I watched it and found the right mule drive pulley hits the axle when the the axle pivots. After some investigating I found the axle to be in backwords, causing the axle to be sitting more forward than it should be. Also found it to be welded. I didn't want a welded axle in my tractor so I went and pulled my parts 129 around and found that one welded too. Next I looked at the 149 I got from Zippy found no welds and no play in the pivot pin. Found perfect candidate,(thanks again Todd). Pulled the engine from the 149, then the axle cleaned it up. Went to remove the engine from the 108, discovered I didn't have to because the pivot pin clears the flat oil pan. I removed and replaced the axle greased it up before puting weight on it installed the belt, adjusted properly and engaged pto and found the mule drive pulleys no where near the axle. All is good now can't wait to mow with this tractor this year, it's been a long time coming.
