Last month, Yosemite Sam came all the way down to GA. to pick the 2 1650's I had for sale. While he was there, I showed him another brand of 1650 I collect. I also collect Massey Ferguson/Snapper 1650's, 1655's & 1855's. I had
a Snapper 1650 along to mow my yard. This was at my house near Atlanta that I'm selling, I live in Blackshear, GA. which is in south GA. I haul my tractors loaded sideways on the trailer, using 4 tie down straps. Well, on the way back to Blackshear the next day, 2 straps broke & the tractor fell off the trailer! I was in the outside lane on I-75, running about 75 mph when it happened. By the grace of God, no one was behind me close enough to hit it. It took 2 barrel rolls & then slid to a stop. A truck driver helped me get it off the highway, my son & I loaded it back up. The 2 new straps are what broke. I've been hauling tractors this way for years & this is the first time I ever had a problem. I'm alittle OCD when it comes to making sure everything is tight. Now, I'm only going to use 2" straps. Here are a few pictures to show you how tough an old tractor is. Nothing made today could have handled that impact. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
