I'm pretty sure that thing has a knock in it. Obviously it's a video and I'm not there, but pretty sure I hear it. That much blow by, a knock.... I'm betting on broken or burnt piston. Do a compression test. If your one of those guys who believe in a leak down test, do that too. I bet you find the cause pretty quick. Smoking quite a bit too unless it's just super cold in your garage...

No problem, I totally understand it's hard to diagnose through words alone over the internet LMAO....That's why I wanted to put up the video, now we're seeing and hearing the same thing. As they say, "a picture is worth a thousand words", I'm not sure how many a video is worth.

As far as the knock....maybe..... sometimes it sounds like it has a slight knock and sometimes it actually sounds great. The engine was completely cold in the video.... hadn't ran all day and it was about 35 in the garage.

The smoke.... yea it smokes a lot for the first couple minutes it's running, but goes away visually after a few minutes, although you can still faintly smell burning oil even if you don't see the smoke.


The engine in the 682 is supposed to be good......Supposing that it is, I am at a little bit of a cross roads on where to go from here.

I can use the 682 as a parts tractor and make the 782 as nice as possible. Swap engines and whatever else the 782 needs.

I can rebuild the 782 engine....but there's not a lot of benefit here, other than having a rebuilt engine....the 682 is still in rough shape and I'm a few hundred poorer at that point.
