Default New from Nebraska

I picked up this CC 1450 a week or so ago. It came with a nice FEL which is what got me interested. The snow drifts pretty high around our house which made it challenging for the two stage thrower.

The FEL is primered but not painted. I'm not sure why that's just how I got it. I'm thinking it should be yellow to match. Any other ideas?

Before I paint it though I want to look inside and see what else needs to be replaced and get the oils changed. I'm pretty sure I want to change out the hydro valves with automatic ones in case I get stuck and I'll be putting on a new gasket on the transmission (it leaks now).

I also have a rattle of some sort under the hood that sounds like the muffler is lose or something. I'll find it and get it fixed soon (before Winter anyway). When I shut it off the hydro makes that racket that I think means there is a little pressure on it (not in neutral) when it shuts down.

I found this site very useful and have downloaded the service manual for my 1450 already. I just thought I'd post something and say hello. I think it'll be a long time before I'm in any position to offer CC advice.

I plan on fixing it up so it is dependable and trustworthy but I don't think I'll completely rebuild it to be "show" quality. It sounds like there is a lot of support for CC so this might turn from utility vehicle to hobby in the very near future (except I can't fix or tune engines).

Anyway attaching my first photo...hope it works.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
