1872 A simple engine swap
I purchase a Magnum 20 from Joe (BIGMOZEKE) Well... I didn't pay a penny yet, not even for the shipping or for the magnificent crate he send the engine in! What was supposed to be a simple engine swap became a collection of issue to take care of.
I remove the M18 Saturday, beside a missing cradle bolt and one of the front hydraulic hose damaged it was a pretty straight forward job, OK let's finish the swap Sunday and take care of the hydraulic issue Monday! Sound simple.... Sunday morning I remove the M20 from is crate and notice some greasy "goo goo" inside the left cylinder heat shield, I decide to remove all the shielding from the engine and take a closer look at this low hour engine. Here what I found:  A good 1 1/2" tick "Chunk" of goo goo  Almost forgot to mention, I have been kidnap Sunday morning, no garage work for me on father day! Monday morning back from the hydraulic shop with my new hoses, day 3 of my swap attempt.... I can't pin point the guilty leak on the M20, I torque the jug and head to spec, clean all the sludge inside all shield and proceed to finish the job I remove the drive shaft flange assembly from the M18, apart a missing bolt to fix it she look not right...Well she's not! I need a new one.  Another step back, I have no choice to test this engine on the bench so I can send Joe a check like we agree since he don't want me to send him any money before this engine run at my satisfaction. Now I notice another problem, the power steering metal line are wet, something is leaking. (I take picture tomorrow) Here a picture of the now clean M20 and the crate he was send in.
