1864 vs 5254
Hi guys and gals, I'm new around here. I'm from western ma. and my name is Ben.
I admit I know almost nothing about cub cadet but I'm looking to buy a garden tractor and I was hoping for some expert advice. I've been desperately trying to stay away from box store junk but i don't want to spend a fortune either so I think I've narrowed it down to 2 tractors i found on craigslist. First one is a 1995 1864, Everything works except the hour meter which reads 392. The owner guesses it's around 500 hours and based on condition it doesn't seem to me that he's lying. It has a 54 inch deck and nothing else. Price $1000 dollars. Second is a 2007 5254. It has 307 hrs, a 60 inch deck and 3 point hitch. Seems to be in good condition from the ad but obviously wont know full condition until i see both tractors. Price $2850 dollar's. Are either of these good prices? Which one is the best deal on paper? Im aware of the problems of the 2500 series but from my limited research it seemed as though most of those problems were worked out by 2007.
