Vbelts on mower LTX1040

I'm new at this computer stuff but I try. I just posted a reply to an old post that no one will see as it was years old. I have a 46" deck and went to home depot and they had one. Not having done this before I assumed it was the correct one as it was a cub cadet belt and I put it on. it was too long. I took it off and measured it and it was a 107 inch. I called cub and they said for my model it needs a 103.25 belt and it has a 46" deck. So make sure you measure before you get started. You can't trust the package. I can't find one up here so I ordered a regular A101 v belt.

My question is Am I wasting my time and money and will only the stronger belts last? Thanks. I'm sure some of you have tried this already.
