So I sold a 129 today. Had a JD up for sale and a kid "maybe 22 years old" called me about it. He couldn't afford the JD. I asked him what he wanted spend and what he was looking to do with the tractor. He told me he wanted to spend 200$ and he wanted a tractor to pull some stuff around the yard. I really didnt have anything for sale in his price range. Then I thought well. I have 3 129's now. I could do without one of them. I told him to come by and take a look.
I put a new carb on it, cleaned the points and it fired up with a battery. It needs a tire. No deck on it but I told him I would sell him one in the spring if he wanted. He purchased it for 200$ and seemed pretty happy about it. I sorta hated to see it go but you know it's hard to deny a kid like that a special deal when they really show an interest in owning and working an old cub. I doubt I made any money on this with the purchase price I paid when I bought it.. 100 bucks I think I paid. plus a carb, time, transporting, etc. I referred him to OCC to learn more about the tractor and told him to call me if he has any questions. Hopefully we will see him here and see how he is doing with the old 129. I think it got a good home!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
