Default Help with identifying our Cub Cadet.

Hello! I'm looking for some help identifying my older Cub Cadet tractor. I bought it off of craigslist earlier this year. The gentleman who sold it just called it a "60's era Cub Cadet" and since it was running and came with a book I thought I had enough info. I later found when I looked closer that the book was only for the Kohler engine, not the full tractor.

Unfortunately, our tractor along with my husband went over a ditch into a creek a few weeks ago so the tractor needs a bit of work (my husband broke a few bones, got a few new parts himself, but is thankfully otherwise okay!)

A good group of people helped get the tractor out of the creek so now I'm ready to start researching what I will need to make her work again (she almost started so it may not be much!). Unfortunately, I can't find the serial number or model number to even know where to start.

I took a bunch of pictures hoping this will help narrow down an ID. I'm going to try and add as many of them as I can to this post - but if not I made an album on photobucket and I think I added the link properly.

Please let me know if there are any other pictures that would help, or exactly where to look for a serial number or model number and I'll do my best to get those.

Thank you in advance!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
