Hello from West Tennessee.
I just recently acquired an old (I think it's a 1969, by the numbers on the starter/generator) model 126. It was cheap, and just what I was looking for. We had had a '52 super Cub some years ago and wanted something versatile and rugged but not so big or tall as I'm getting older and don't climb around good any more. It does start and run, I mowed some the afternoon I got it home. But it needs some work to be really useful as our workhorse. It seems to slowly die after running about 10 or 15 minutes. It'll restart but do the same thing a bit later. I got a tune-up kit, but am looking into a new carb. The one on it has the choke cable arm such that the cable has to be hooked up backwards, so I wonder if it's not the right one? Should I put the plug, points & condenser in then try adjusting the carb, or replacing the carb first? Appreciate any comments or links. Thanks, Kris.
