I just picked up a 1450 this past week. Overall the unit is in superb condition... very impressed. I replaced the carb today and she just purrs now. The deck is a 44a... 0320017U103967...
I have every intention of getting her perfect and mowing with her for as long as I can. So... lol... Ive read every post I can find regarding the PTO belt. This is a hot topic! It came with a very cracked 3/8" belt that is twisted at the PTO. The PTO pulley appears to be designed for 1/2". The twin mule drive pulleys are definitely 3/8s. The deck pulley is 4.25" and definitely 1/2". So the PO replaced the mule drive pulleys with undersized parts that might actually be to the specs currently used? Is that right? Did I mention it cuts like a champ? lol So what would you do? A. try to find 1/2" mule drive pulleys? Then find the correct 1/2" belt? B. throw another 3/8ths belt on there and call it a day? I would rather fight the good fight and find the correct pulleys so I can use a heavy duty 1/2" belt. What is the part number for 1/2" drive pulleys? Rick

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
