Hi, first post on your website. I was asked by a friend to sell her 1969 Cub 105. They bought it in '72 and it's always been garaged. Her husband died recently and she feels the need to get rid of the 105. It is hydrostatic drive, hydraulic lift and comes with mower deck, model 1 tiller, rear wheel weights, and rear lift. I told her I would try to sell it for her but my dilemma is that I'd like to buy it. I am willing to pay $350 for it in it's current condition, which is this: motor had loud rod knock, motor has chirping sound when rolling over with the starter, charging system may not work (ammeter is disconnected), dead battery, very loose steering, mower deck has multiple patches, and when stopping tractor's forward or reverse movement, the transmission lever needs to be moved quite a bit past -N- before neutral is found, although the brake pedal works well. The plus side is that the tractor is in good original condition. What are your thoughts on it? Do you see any rare parts on it that I should know about for determining value? (I did put it on CL for $595 but didn't get any bites)
Thank you so much for any advice. Oh, and here are some photos I knew you'd like to see. :-) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
