help needed!
K301 out of a 124
Trying to start my k301 engine tonight. I have fuel, spark, motor is turning correct direction, and head is hot. After it tried to run, and did run starter assisted for a little bit, it slowed down like connecting rod seized. After that, it will try to pull starter backwards. It has been timed with VOM as illustrated by Matt G, (as found on here in tech section). I tend to think that timing is way way too far advanced, and to back that up, I had to reshape the points to get it to fall in to range. Can explain that bit more if needed, but I literally moved the points contact so I could get timing without bottoming out the adjusting screw. I needed more adjustment closer to the block and the screw head would push it away when tightened. Any Ideas?
