We moved to CT from MN last week and one of my first items "to do" was to get a lawn tractor to mow our half acre.
This morning I went to look at a John Deere SXT-38 and it didn't really tickle my fancy and so the seller showed me a Cub that he had sitting in the back. It fired right up and looked pretty decent, so I bit. Still wondering if I made the right call or not. I don't really know anything about the tractor, I had only previously owned a mid 80's Toro Wheel Horse. Anywho, picked up a 1211 Hydro with a 46" deck. It's got about 760 hours on it and seems to fire and run fine. I got it home, unloaded it and mowed the half acre. Open to input and direction...maybe some ideas on what I *should* have paid? I'll tell you after I get a couple answers (and perhaps do a little crying) ![]() I see from some searching that a gentleman named "TEET" also has (had?) a 1211 with a blower and a blade. I'd definitely like to get one or both of those things and could probably use some direction there if anyone's so inclined. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
