I do hear what you all are saying. Maybe we'll just relegate this one to the yard. Even if it only cuts the grass, it'll be a great lesson for my son and, when it's all done, we'll still have a mower that is light years better than what we've got now.

thanks for the input.

R Bedell, where did you find that info? I found a deck from a 1610 and I'm wondering if it'll work. If I knew where you found that info, I could use it as a cross-reference. The tag on the deck reads, 44" LT Deck 39219X 44LT, Serial # 0351039U. I assume the 39219X cross-references with your list but, does the fact that they're swapped around make a difference? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to figure this out.

thanks again!

If properly equipped, the 1610 would have had a 190-363 mower deck. I don't believe this was an option for the 1715.

You can find any attachment for a given tractor model by simply going to this link....Parts Lookup.

Type on your model (ie: 1715) then click on the Search tab. Once the sites finds all models that have those numbers in it, pick the tab that best describe your tractor. Once you click on that, it will bring up the "parts sections" for that model. Under the Parts section, there is an "Attachment Section" that lists all the attachments for that given model.

Default Just an update.

I found a mower deck for it. Guy wanted $70 !!!!

That's almost half of what I got the tractor for!

Still a good deal, I think. It'll make for a great mower this summer.

My brother, son and I took the tractor over to a tractor show this past weekend. He has a 72 that he pulls. It has a pretty stiff clutch in it so, we used my tractor to pull his trailer and navigate through the crowd. Worked great!

We also came home with another cub. An original! You can see the thread I started on that one by clicking here .

Can't leave nuthin alone!!

I got looking at the 1715 and it had a pretty big pulley on the transaxle. It also couldn't catch a turtle running on marbles,it was so slow. We seldom used lower than high gear. Well I got some good guys at the local parts store and we got talkin pulley sizes. We went from an eight inch pulley to a five inch pulley and that is about right. Low is still to low to mow in except for really tall grass but the other gears really make up for it. The only issue is finding the right size belt for it now. An 86 inch is a little tight but an 87 inch is too loose, slips a lot. Even with the original pulley and belt, the tractor always wanted to creep. Even if the belt was VERY loose. Since it had been sitting foR so long, I figured that the pulley might just need cleaned up with more use. It seems to be getting better but if it doesn't improve, Ill see if I can get an 86.5 inch belt.

I also found out that my new brake pad broke. I had the metal piece behind it but apparently, it wasn't thick enough and it bent, breaking the pad. I cut down a new Brake pad from a ford truck that we don't own anymore. The lining was riveted, so I drilled the rivets and sawed a small piece to fit. I made it a little wider too. We'll see how that works.

If the belt stops grabbing on the front pulley, it'll be quite a nice tractor!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
